Artist Statement – EQUINE LIFE DRAWINGS:
My work is an investigation of movement. As such, drawing my subject live is my absolute favorite. I created this group of drawings January through March 2023 in the Dominican Republic. The ponys and donkeys are residents of the Punta Cana Resort equine center. They are sweet natured models, (although the mini, Cinnamon tends to fall asleep often!).
When I draw animals live, I connect with them on a level not possible in the studio. Their personality comes out in unanticipated ways, resulting in delightful, intimate images.
