Artist Statement
The paintings in this catalogue are all images I have passed daily over the last 20 years while walking a 3 mile loop around my neighborhood. Although by now I am familiar with the fields and trees and houses, they still wave and call to me as I walk by. I am especially drawn to the simplicity of a stone wall, awkward shrub, or age-worn barn. I think of these common elements as the vernacular of landscape. I’ve tried to imbue these images with great affection and appreciation for their steadfastness over the last 20 years.
