Artist Statement for “Reactant”
While predominantly a surreal and contemplative photographer, I have recently embraced an alternative process known as the chemigram, which incorporates the same chemistry and substrates used in traditional darkroom photography but without the aid of camera or lens. What results is entirely random and unique, a byproduct of mistakes, chance and experimentation that ultimately leads to discovery. In short, it is the residue of play. Or, as my mom used to say, “Go out and play!”
