Maurice Golubov

Maurice Golubov (1905–1987) was a pioneering abstract painter whose intricate compositions bridge the spiritual and geometric. Born in Russia and immigrating to New York in 1917, Golubov developed a deeply personal visual language rooted in color, form, and structure. A member of the American Abstract Artists group, he exhibited alongside modern masters such as Mark Rothko, Arshile Gorky, and Jackson Pollock. His works—ranging from monumental canvases to jewel-like miniatures—reflect a lifelong fascination with the inner architecture of painting. Today, Golubov’s art is held in major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Jewish Museum.
