Suzanne Montresor
Suzanne has been a watercolor artist for the past 35 years. She is known for her large format colorful watercolors of imaginary botanicals and more recently, smaller work in black and white rendered in graphite and watercolor.
Capturing a fleeting moment in my memory I strive to recreate the contrasting elements of nature – the hard edges of squares against the soft flow of curves – creating paintings within a painting. I feel the absence of color and the translucent quality of watercolor, using both shading and details, enhance the sculptural aspects of my imagery. I often listen to classical piano while I am working, and I am sure the lyrical quality of my drawing comes from the influence of the music.
