“Charlene”

October 15 – November 3, 2024

Chroma Fine Art Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of abstract landscape and botanical paintings by Inness Hancock. The show, titled “Charlene” after the artist’s mother, will be on view now through November 3. The public is invited to attend the opening reception on October 19 from 3:00pm-7:00pm, which will coincide with the Katonah ArtWalk.

Inness Hancock’s work builds upon tradition to modernize the legacy of American landscape painting. Her finely-honed skills are rooted in enduring techniques and themes (she is a descendent of George Inness, after all), but her unique gift lies in exploring an expanded sense of landscape. Hancock’s practice moves beyond the visual experience of the external world to encompass the inner landscape of the human mind and spirit. Her paintings communicate a transcendent message through calm, elevated energies, and harmonious color relationships. “In my life and work, I explore the space between action and stillness; vibrancy and softness. Inspiration comes through the quiet, consistent energy that fosters growth, meditation, and spiritual connections.”

In addition to pursuing painting full-time, Hancock has contributed to the vibrancy of art organizations close to her heart, including serving as Creative Director and a Board Member for Art in Store in Katonah, NY. She has twice curated Art Show Bedford in NY, and has been a Co-Chair and Advisory Committee Member of Global Fine Art Awards (GFAA). Her work resides in many private collections, and has been featured in exhibitions at venues across the country. Inness Hancock lives and works in Bedford, NY and Northeast Harbor, ME.
