Artist Statement for “ Monotypes”
When making monotypes (hand-pulled original prints), I rely on instinct and intuition to explore qualities of nature and the environment, and react to relationships between lines, shapes, textures, patterns and colors. Once the piece has been printed, I am able to decide if I want to encorporate collage material and/or draw to enhance the composition.
The process of creating is an adventure, and the process of monotype printmaking resonates with my sensibilities and practices.
